A car is the second-biggest thing most Nepali families ever buy, and almost every price you find online is undated, unsourced, or quietly out of date. CarKathmandu exists because that bothered me enough to fix it.

The person behind it

My name is Shekhar Koirala. I build and run CarKathmandu from Kathmandu. I research every price on this site, I decide what gets published, and when something here is wrong it is my mistake to correct.

How we work

Every price carries a date

No price on this site is published without the date it was last checked. You can see, on every car page, exactly how fresh the number is. The whole dataset was last audited on 2026-07-27.

We say when sources disagree

Nepal's EV levy bands are genuinely contested — reputable Nepali outlets publish different figures for the same band. Where that happens we show you the disagreement and use the cautious number, instead of picking one and pretending it is settled. The EV tax calculator flags every contested band.

We correct in public

When we get something wrong we fix it and say so, with a date. We have already had to correct our own published prices — that record stays visible rather than being quietly edited away.

We are not a dealer

We don't sell cars, we don't take a commission on a sale, and no manufacturer pays for a better write-up. If you ask us for an on-road price we work it out and send it to you. We pass your number to a dealer only if you ask us to.

We tell you what we don't cover

We currently track 34 cars across 305 comparisons. That is fewer than some sites list. We would rather cover fewer cars properly than claim to cover every car in Nepal.

Found something wrong?

A stale price, a spec that doesn't match the brochure, a levy band we've read wrong — send it over. Corrections are the most useful thing anyone sends us.
