Car loan calculator
Most cars in Nepal are bought monthly, not outright. This works out the payment on the on-road price — the number you actually have to finance — and shows what the bank wants upfront, which is the part that decides whether a car is reachable at all.

Stretching the term is not free
Over 7 years instead of 5, the payment falls to NPR 18,299 — but you pay NPR 120,536 more interest in total. You are buying a smaller payment with a larger bill.
A lender would usually want around NPR 59,023 a month coming in behind this, on the common rule that repayments stay under about 40% of net income. Your other borrowing counts against that, and we cannot see it.
NADA show offers in 2026 advertised rates from 4.66% with 20% down; Hulas Finserv publishes 8.25–9.25% with a 40% minimum down payment and a 60-month cap on used cars. Both are real, which is why every number above is yours to set rather than ours to assume. The arithmetic is exact; the terms are not. Rates read 2026-09-12. Insurance financed into the loan and any prepayment penalty are still excluded — ask us and we will chase the real terms for your bank.
What lenders are asking
These are the ranges we found, with the source for each. They disagree, and the disagreement is the useful part: a promotional rate at a motor show and a finance company's standing rate are nearly a factor of two apart.
How much the bank lends
40–80%we default to 60%
Commonly 50–60% of the vehicle value, so expect to find 40–50% yourself. Some promotions and some EV schemes go higher. Confirm with your bank before committing to a car.

Car loan interest 8.25%–9.25% depending on down payment; loan coverage up to 60% of vehicle cost; minimum 40% down; maximum 60 months on used vehicles.
Disagrees: Materially stricter than the NADA show offers on both rate and down payment. Both are real: show promotions are temporary and lender terms differ, which is why this calculator asks rather than assumes. - ICT Frame — NADA Auto Loan Offers 2026 · read 2026-09-12
Auto loan offers advertised from 4.66% to 5.99% during NADA 2026, a mix of fixed, floating and hybrid structures, with some processing-fee waivers.
Interest rate
4.5–14%we default to 9%
Promotional rates at motor shows have gone as low as 4.66%; standing rates around 8–9% are more typical. Floating rates move with the lender's base rate.

Usually one to seven years. Longer tenures lower the monthly payment and raise the total interest.

Common questions
How much down payment do I need for a car loan in Nepal?
Commonly 40–50%. Lenders typically advance 50–60% of the vehicle value for a private car, so you find the rest yourself. Some motor-show promotions and some EV schemes go higher, to around 80% financed. Confirm with your own bank before committing to a car — this is the number buyers are most often wrong about, and it decides whether a car is reachable at all.
What is the interest rate on a car loan in Nepal?
It depends on the lender and on timing. Auto loan offers at NADA 2026 were advertised from 4.66% to 5.99%, while Hulas Finserv publishes standing rates of 8.25% to 9.25% depending on the down payment. Floating rates move with the lender's base rate. Budget at the higher end: a buyer who plans around a promotional rate and is then offered the standing one has a problem, and the reverse costs nothing.
Should I calculate EMI on the ex-showroom or on-road price?
On-road. Registration, the embossed plate, first-year provincial vehicle tax, bluebook renewal, the pollution certificate and compulsory insurance all land before you can drive, and dealer handling sits on top of that. Financing only the sticker price means finding the rest in cash at the worst possible moment.
How is car loan EMI calculated?
EMI = P × r × (1+r)^n ÷ ((1+r)^n − 1), where P is the amount borrowed, r is the monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n is the number of months. The arithmetic is exact. What is uncertain is what a bank will offer you, not the formula.
Does a longer loan term make a car cheaper?
It lowers the monthly payment and raises the total. On a Rs 50 lakh car at 9% with 60% financed, five years costs about Rs 62,000 a month and roughly Rs 7.4 lakh in interest; seven years is about Rs 48,000 a month and roughly Rs 10.5 lakh in interest. You are buying a smaller payment with a larger bill.
Still not sure what it costs?
Work out the on-road price first — registration, tax, plate and insurance on top of the sticker — then come back and finance that number.
